"Toddler 'makes heroin wrap'"
Edinburgh Evening News
Published 11th February 2008

A child is born innocent and pure... a blank white canvas for the world to colour and form through learning and experience. In an ideal world each and every child should be afforded the opportunity to develop and reach their full potential. But what of the innocents born into obscurity?

In a home devoid of love and nurturing, what values are imparted and embedded that will influence development into adulthood? During the formative years a child is educated and influenced primarily in the home. What legacy therefore is handed down from generation to generation?

Today subversive cultures seem more prevalent than ever. From drug to knife culture and gun to gang culture, they’re continuously in the news. un.homey* is a range of products which reflect researched, identified elements within these cultures. Through the nostalgia of home craft the collection attempts to capture and communicate the essence of these destructive societies.

* un.homey = unheimlich, uncomfortable, uncanny, unsettling, weird, unfamiliar
