Deathstyle

We're all going to die one day or another. It's one thing that is certain in life, our life in this ever changing society. In modern society the rituals belonging to death and dying are also changing. People start to think and plan things at an earlier stage, even planning their own deaths, the beginning of the so called death style.

A few months ago walking around at a funeral expo in Austria I got fascinated by all these deathstyle objects and possibilities that you could buy there. This made me think about what should be more possible, because all that could be seen there was the same shape, color and style. Therefore I designed a range of products around the funeral that shows the individuality of the deceased, offers new ways of treatment of the deceased, and uses other materials and forms than current products.

With this project I want to show that 'death' can be a good experience, it can be beautiful, it can be done in the way you want it. Showing that every person is unique, making it a celebration of life.
