Although its original purpose was that of body adornment and decoration, for many years jewellery has been used to signify important events within relationships. For instance a marriage proposal and the exchanging of wedding vows are significant events symbolised through the giving of rings. Yet, there are moments within all relationships, everyday seemingly insignificant moments, which are also worth remembering but are for the most part overlooked.

Some people collect objects as mementos of these events for example cinema tickets from a first date, souvenirs from a holiday together, a shell from a walk on the beach to name a few and these objects although worthless to an onlooker can carry as much value to a person through what it represents as a purpose bought piece of jewellery.

I have designed a collection of jewellery through the exploration of such found objects and the importance and sentiment they carry. This collection represents these moments in life and their significance within relationships, encouraging people to treasure these moments, no matter how trivial they may seem.
